The vaccine will be applied by a needle-free application named Pharmajet. Pharmajet delivers the vaccine by means of a narrow, precise fluid stream, which penetrates the skin in about 1/10 of a second and gets the vaccine where it needs to be.
The three doses of ZyCov-D are to be administered after a gap of 28 days. The vaccine received emergency authorization by the Indian Drug Regulator on August 20 this year.
Sharvil Patel, the Managing Director of Zydus Cadila said that they were happy to support the government's vaccination program. They expect that since it is a needle-free vaccine, it will receive a positive acceptance from the children and will be helpful in safeguarding them from Covid-19.
The vaccine has been successful in showing good stability at temperatures of around 25 degrees for at least three months. The thermostability of the vaccine makes easy transportation and storage possible.
