Yoga Mahotsava organized in Guwahati prior to International Yoga Day

Commemorating 100 days countdown in the run-up to the 8th International Day of Yoga 2022, on its 88 days countdown, a 'Yoga Mahotsav 2022' was held at Shraddhanjali Kanan Park, Guwahati. Organized by the Institute of Yoga and Nutrition Science, Guwahati in collaboration with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi with the theme 'Yoga for Disease-Free Society', the event has been aligned with 100 days, 100 cities and 100 organizations mission of Ministry of Ayush.
Speaking to Fit Northeast, a Popular Assamese Actor and demonstrator of the event, Nayan Nilim said, "Originated from India, yoga is one of the oldest holistic health care systems which deals with physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Yoga is very important to maintain a balanced mind and healthy body". The actor also appreciated the initiative taken by the Ministry of Ayush and Sarbananda Sonowal for promoting health, peace. Nilim further thanked all the participants who joined the programme and made it a successful one.

Speaking to Fit Northeast, a Popular Assamese Actor and demonstrator of the event, Nayan Nilim said, "Originated from India, yoga is one of the oldest holistic health care systems which deals with physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
An estimate of 150 people from different age groups participated in this yoga celebration. Yoga instructor Manas Sarma and Triveni Barua, former Mr India, Bijit Gogoi, Athlete Anima Sonowal were present on the stage.
It was on September 27, 2014, during a speech at the UN General  Assembly when Narendra Modi put forward the suggestion of the 'Yoga Day. Since then, India along with the whole world celebrates International Yoga Day on June 21 every year. Keeping the issue of doing regular yoga, the Government of India has introduced the Y-Break app which keeps on reminding people to do yoga at a regular interval.
