Another senior paediatrician, Dr. Suresh Kumar Jain gave a speech regarding how to help a mother to recognise when the baby is ready for breastfeeding.
He said, "When the baby is ready, he/she will open the eyes and the mother gets signalled in this way that the baby needs milk and he/she is thirsty. Anotherway of getting a signal is that when the baby makes its mouth wide open, he/she indicates that he/she wants milk as he/she is thirsty or hungry."
