World Blood Donor's Day celebrated

In order to create awareness about blood donation, blood donation camps were organised across the state.

World Blood Doner's Day is celebrated all over the globe on June 14 in order to create awareness about the significance of blood donation.
In order to mark this special occasion, a state-wide voluntary blood donation camp, "Raktadhara," was organised on June 13 by the National Medicos Organisation, Assam chapter, in association with Sewa Bharti, Purbanchal.
Three of the camps were organised at the auditorium of the Guwahati Medical College Hospital, Shankardev Shishu Niketan in Dhemaji and Lejai KolaKhuwa in Dibrugarh yesterday. More than 60 units of blood were collected at the camp.
While donating blood donation will not cost you much, but it may unquestionably save a life.
The Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Dr Numol Momim, with some other dignitaries, including the principal of GMCH, Achyut Chandra Baishya, were present at the inaugural programme of the blood donation camp at the auditorium of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

The blood donors and the organisers were given a moral boost-up by the health minister of Assam, Keshav Mahanta, who was present at the event.
A similar blood donation camp was organised by the Guwahati chapter of Junior Chamber International at Saharia Blood Bank yesterday, where a total number of 30 donors participated. Inaugurating the blood donation camp, the zone director of the organisation, Sumit Jhawar, appealed to the people to voluntarily come forward and help humanity.
