Ever since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, many citizens especially from the Northeast region are developing a newer fear, not just for the COVID-19 virus but for something more extreme. Most of the citizens, especially senior citizens above the age of 60 suffer from Nosocomephobia.
They have developed Nosocomephobia, which refers to the fear of hospitals. It is no surprise since it is said to be a common medical phobia among many people, not just senior citizens but also among people of all ages. This sudden fear of hospitals is not just because of the fear of injection or any other particular reason.
However, there has been news of many people who are down with cold, minor fever, or other minor sickness but they come out as COVID-19 positive. This has transformed many people into becoming skeptics while losing their trust and faith in the doctors and other medical staff.
Talking to another group of people who reside in the same vicinity together after the news of another couple being COVID-19 positive, they replied, "We've known the couple for more than 20 years. They are now getting old and they never leave their residence except going to church. But, this sudden news of them being COVID-19 positive has served as a huge blow to the rest of the community living here."
It was observed that the couple went to the hospital since the wife was having a cold and blocked nose due to her sinusitis issues. Also, according to the information provided by the locals, they were both said to be COVID-19 positive. It was observed that the couple went to the hospital since the woman was down with a cold and blocked nose due to her sinusitis issues. One cannot be certain whether the rumors which is the talk of the town is true or not. But one thing is certain that most people are now suffering from Nosocomephobia. There are no fingers to point towards since in trying times such as this COVID-19 pandemic, everyone has the right to be scared for their lives.
One small mistake is enough for a person to contract the virus and if we are not careful, it could be either one of us gasping for breath on the ventilator. It is no hidden secret that many of us especially those from the Northeast have become not only skeptics but suffer from Nosocomephobia.
But whatever the rumors they may be hovering, it is crucial for each and every one of us to maintain and follow the Standard Operating Procedure laid down by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Therefore, with regard to Nosocomephobia or the fear of hospitals which is a common medical phobia, we need to be able to ascertain facts from rumors so that we do not become victimized just because of the rumors by avoiding proper medical treatment. It is better to be safe than to be sorry!
