WHO Director-General talks about realising the need of the hour

It is during the 74th World Health Assembly when emphasise was laid regarding how to overcome the pandemic.

The World Health Organisation observed its 74th World Health Assembly through an online session. This occasion annually takes place in Geneva, Switzerland. But due to the pandemic this year, the assembly was conducted virtually from 24th May to 31st May 2021.
The theme this year's was Ending the pandemic, preventing the next: building together a healthier, safer and fairer world.
World Health Assembly is a decision making body of the World Health Organisation.
Determining the policies of the organisation, appointing the director-general, supervising the financial policies and reviewing and approving the proposed programme budget are the main objectives of the World Health Assembly.
Towards the end, Ghebreyesus highlighted that continuing decline in global Covid cases and deaths is very encouraging.
Present at the event on Tuesday, Director General of World Health Organisation, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus, said that the world is in need of a pandemic treaty that will further strengthen both the World Health Organization and the global health securities.

During the closing ceremony, Ghebreyesus further added that this treaty would foster improved sharing, trust and accountability and provide a solid foundation to build a healthier and stronger world. He even added that in the current situation, pathogens have greater power than WHO.
He said that there is a need for some more resources and authority along with an international treaty to connect countries which would help strengthen the world's health security.
Towards the end, Ghebreyesus highlighted that continuing decline in global Covid cases and deaths is very encouraging.
