In order to ensure cent per cent vaccination of the people residing in the char-chapori areas and the interior villages of Biswanath district of Assam, a boat vaccination centre has been started by the Biswanath district administration in collaboration with Karuna Trust. A total of 125 people got vaccinated at the trust's boat named Vivekananda Boat Clinic.
The members and the organisers of this vaccination camp received full support from the residents of Gopaljaroni and Thute Chapari villages under Bakori Dolong Gaon Panchayat despite the adverse weather conditions. Kankana Saikia, the assistant commissioner commented that the boat vaccination centre will continue to provide services until complete immunization is achieved.
It is a state-of-the-art boat clinic and is equipped with an OPD, in-patient care room with 2 beds and a minor OT for dressing along with a dedicated and expert medical staff.As many parts of Assam are mostly located on the banks of river Bramhaputra and do not have complete access to healthcare, a boat clinic was launched on 21 June this year in association with Karuna Trust.
