It is observed that people in present times are getting inclined towards yoga and love practising it in order to keep themselves healthy.
On 21 June, 2022, the world observed the 8th International Yoga Day, which was kicked off by Narendra Modi in Mysuru.
On this occasion, two of the renowned hospitals in Guwahati also made the necessary arrangements for special yoga sessions for their working staff. The main motive behind the yoga workshops was to motivate them to take care of themselves, despite their super-busy work schedules.
During the two-day session, BK Vandana taught the people about Rajyoga, which is a form of soul-conscious meditation. Emphasis was laid on how Rajyoga helps to keep the mind cool and how it guides a person in various walks of life.The Marwari Hospitals organized a special yoga session in their auditorium which was imparted by Dr Shalini Sharma. Dr Sharma is a trained Yoga Consultant, who is also BAMS, MD in Ayurveda and also P.G.Diploma in Panchkarma, Ayurveda. All the staff from the various departments of the hospital participated in the 2-hour Yoga Session, which started at 4 PM and ended at 6 PM.
"Yoga is a very important part and we should do yoga on regular basis. We don't need a particular yoga day for practising yoga. Regular practice of yoga benefits our human body to a great extent. Even many diseases and illnesses can be cured by regular practice of yoga. So, in my opinion, yoga is a very important aspect of life. Today, we are celebrating International Yoga Day by practising yoga among our staff to create awareness regarding the benefits of Yoga. Hope we can practice more and more yoga on our hospital campus," said Mr Rohit Upadhayay, superintendent of the hospital.
The Director of Medical Services, Dr. J.P. Sarma is also overwhelmed by the performance of the staff while practising Yoga. He said that all the staff performed yoga-like professionals and it is good to know that besides performing medical services, they are also experts in activities like yoga. He also claimed that by practising yoga on regular basis, a human being can stay fit and which will bring a positive impact on one's career and physical health.
Another power-packed yoga session was organized at the premises of the DownTown Hospital on 20 and 21June. In this two-day session, Bramhakumari Sister Vandana demonstrated Rajyoga meditation to more than 180 people including the staff, doctors, working members and the students of the Down Town Nursing school. During the two-day session, BK Vandana taught the people about Rajyoga, which is a form of soul-conscious meditation. Emphasis was laid on how Rajyoga helps to keep the mind cool and how it guides a person in various walks of life. The focus was laid on how Rajyoga can reduce stress and anxiety and help in maintaining a calm and peaceful state of mind. Rajyoga is a very simple form of meditation which can be done anytime, anywhere and it paves the way to discipline, self-control, concentration, inner peace and joy.
