Tripura vaccinates 60.27% eligible population with double doses

Tripura is one among the few states of the country to have vaccinated 95 per cent of the eligible population with the first dose

The northeastern state- Tripura has made significant contributions to the country's achievement towards vaccination of people against the coronavirus.
In Tripura, 60.27 per cent eligible population (15,08,073 people) has already been administered double doses while 25,02,033 (95.35 per cent) eligible people received the first dose.
As per the latest report from the Health Department, the state has administered a total of 40,10,109 jabs of the Corona vaccine.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the country has already crossed the 1 crore vaccination milestone. He also hailed the contributions of the state's healthcare and frontline workers in the vaccination drive.
The Chief Minister in a recent press conference also mentioned the medical and other supports extended by the Centre to Tripura during the Covid crisis.
He said that the Tripura government had initiated multiple steps including special drives to vaccinate all the eligible people in view of their safety.
Apart from Special Vaccination Drives, the state had undertaken an initiative to Vaccinate Priority Groups like Media, Lawyers, Bank Employees, Food/Electricity Staffs,

"Tripura is one among the few states of the country to have vaccinated 95 per cent of the eligible population with the first dose. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led the massive vaccination drive in the country, also appreciated the achievement of Tripura," Deb told media.
According to an official report, the vaccination coverage had reflected on COVID Positivity Rate during the second wave-- the overall positivity rate was less as compared to the first wave. In the state, there are 1,342 vaccination centres covering almost all the villages.
In Tripura, a total of 93 persons are under treatment at present and the positivity rate is below one per cent. The state recorded a total of 813 Covid deaths so far.
On the other hand, keeping in view of the pandemic situation, National Health Mission's Tripura chapter and Health and Family Welfare Department had undertaken several initiatives to reinforce the health care delivery system across the state with special focus on Tertiary Care Hospitals for COVID-19 management.
Setting up of Oxygen Generation Plants remained one of the prime initiatives with an objective to generate oxygen for reducing dependence on store and supply of cylinders.
In this context, the Chief Minister said, "total 22 PSA Oxygen Generation Plants including 14 supported by PM-CARE, five supported by UNICEF and the remaining three supported by UNDP have been installed and commissioned in the state; earlier the state had only three oxygen plants."
According to the Chief Minister, now Tripura has sufficient oxygen supply to fight against the projected third wave of Covid-19 or any such crisis. Almost all the eight districts of Tripura now have at least one oxygen plant each.
