Tripura Educational institutes to start normal functioning soon

An announcement came from Tripura Education minister Ratanlal Nath on Saturday regarding the opening of educational institutes.

As Tripura registered a sharp decline in the Covid positivity rate over the past few days, the state government has decided to resume the normal functioning of all educational institutions from January 31 next.
The announcement came from Tripura Education minister Ratanlal Nath on Saturday. He said all schools, colleges universities and other educational institutions are now allowed for normal functioning by maintaining the Covid appropriate behaviour from Monday next.
Addressing a press conference, the Education Minister said the suspension of physical classes for a long period following the Covid pandemic caused academic losses as well as disrupted the mental growth of the students.
"As the Covid situation continues to improve, the state government has now decided to start regular classes in schools, colleges, universities and other technical education institutions with full capacity. The decision has been taken following a high-level meeting held on Saturday," Nath told the media.
He said the government decision would be applicable to all governments including TTAADC, government-aided and unaided private schools and madrassas

The students have to wear masks, use sanitiser and maintain physical distance during the classes mandatorily. Meanwhile, the number of Covid cases is coming down significantly and a sharp decline is visible in the state.

As per the latest Covid bulletin issued by the Health Department on Saturday, total of 152 fresh cases out of 4018 samples tested were reported-- the positivity rate came down to 3.78 per cent from around 7-9 per cent last week. According to the report, total of 982 patients recovered during the last 24 hours, till Saturday morning while four Covid deaths were reported.
At present, the number of total active cases in Tripura is 5798. The report said total 889 people died due to Covid in the state so far. Among the new cases, West Tripura district reported the highest 52 cases, while Khowai district contributed the lowest four cases.
Another report from the Health department said, Tripura has so far administered 49,41,939 doses-- 27,38,702 first doses, 21,63,679 second shots and 39,558 precaution doses.
In the 15-18 age group, 1,12,574 beneficiaries among the 2.13 lakh target population already received the first dose in Tripura, according to the report.
