Dr. Bhattacharjee had conducted the state's first Open Heart Surgery at the GBP hospital in January last-- the credit goes to the Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology (CTVS and IR) department.
The girl, daughter of a farmer, is a student of Class VIII. Since her tender age, the girl was feeling breathing problem after brisk running and physical activities. Her father, despite his poor financial condition had tried to take her to Bengaluru for treatment but he was unable to manage the funds.
The girl finally visited the CTVS and IR department of the GBP Hospital recently. After a thorough examination, Dr. Kanak Narayan Bhattacharjee observed there is no wall between the left ventricle and right ventricle of the patient's heart. As a result, both the purified and non-purified blood were mixing up which prevented her from brisk activities.
