The government of Meghalaya induces relaxations

Along with the other states in the Northeast, the Covid situation is improving in Meghalaya

The initial days in the month of September will mark the relaxation of a number of services. The Government in almost all the states is gearing up to open all the schools and educational institutions. Students appearing for classes IX, X and those of the final year graduation and post-graduation will have to attend their respective educational institutions.
Considering the current improving Covid-19 situation in Meghalaya, the state government has come up with some new rules for the shops. The shops which are dealing with essential commodities are allowed to open six days a week from 9 AM to 6 PM. Shops dealing with non-essential items are permitted to be open for five days a week.

The cyber cafés, bookstalls and stationeries will remain open for 6 days and grocery counters will remain open from Monday to Friday. Restaurants and bars will be given permission to open with a capacity to accommodate 50%. It is mandatory to submit the certificate of full vaccination of the employees to the Sub Divisional Officer (Civil), Block Development Officer or the concerned Incident Commander.

The home delivery service of all the food joints is allowed to be active from 9 AM to 8 PM. Take away services have been allowed up to 6 PM on all days.
An order was passed by the District Administration of West Garo Hills on August 23, under which the entire district was declared containment zone till August 30 and the curfew timings were from 5 PM to 5 AM. The rule of odd-even was imposed on the vehicles and plying of people on local auto and maxi-cabs were restricted to 50%.
As per data by Union Health Minister, Meghalaya on August 30 recorded a total number of 2710 active cases along with 71327 discharged and 1299 deaths.
