The advanced cath lab will help detection and treatment easier and save a lot of time

The health minister of Assam, Keshab Mahanta recently inaugurated the department of Interventional Radiology and Advanced Cathlab at the Swagat Superspeciality Hospital and Surgical Institute. It is one of its kind in Assam.
In conversation with MD (Critical Care, Medicine and Anaesthesiologist) Dr Ayushman Khanna, Fit Northeast came to know that the cath lab is a top-model product by Philips and is named as Azurion. It was highlighted the cath lab which is present at Swagat has a very high and clear imaging quality.
The magnifications of a cath lab is measured in FD and the cath lab present in Swagat Superspeciality Hospital has 20 FD. This provides an imaging quality which is far better than any other cath labs in Guwahati.

Dr Khanna added that many of the common man have a perception that only cardiac procedures (including viewing the blood vessels in the heart, heart attacks or fitting a pacemaker) can be helped out through a cath machine. On the contrary, this cathlab can even stop a stroke and can heal any kind of bleeding from the stomach without performing any kind of surgery.
Tumors in liver or any other organs which are somehow restricting the blood flow can be treated through laser using the new cathlab. It was also highlighted that procedures done with the help of this cathlab are very quick, with the help of which the patients get faster results.
Two eminent cardiologists of the country, Dr TS Kler and Dr Kushal Pandey were present at the inauguration event along with some other dignitaries. Cardiologist Dr Chandra Das introduced the facilities of the new advanced machine to the people. Founder and Chief Medical Director of Swagat Hospital was also present in the program.
