Strict Enforcement of Covid Protocol in Assam

Sector-wise allotment of duties among the magistrates for monitoring

Nine districts in Assam recently reported a high Covid positivity rate. These districts include Biswanath, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup(Metro), Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Sonitpur and Sivasagar.
Taking a comprehensive review of the Covid-19 pandemic in the State the Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed concern over the increasing number of cases in these districts. The review was done through a video conferencing with the DCs, SPs and other senior health officials in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta from Janata Bhawan on 11 July 2021.
Dr Sarma was apprehensive of a section of people who violate Covid protocols and trigger further spread of the virus. The DCs of the districts were asked to identify the assembly points in the urban areas, villages and tea gardens and strictly enforce containment measures.
The Chief Minister has directed the DCs and SPs to extensively move around the districts to ensure strict enforcement besides sector-wise allotment of duties among the magistrates for monitoring. They have been also asked to conduct monitoring through drones to view if people came out in groups.

The senior health professionals were ordered to intensify the vaccination drives in their respected districts. The senior officers were entrusted to visit the villages to ensure that the people do not roam around near the market areas and it strictly remains closed if the district goes under containment.
