Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said that the state is completely ready to conquer the third wave which is expected to arrive by October. Mahanta highlighted that the Covid hospital in the Kalapahar area of Guwahati has been re-opened for the treatment of post-Covid patients. The hospital has been equipped with 106 beds. The Health Minister stated this while addressing the media yesterday.
Adequate arrangements have been made in all the hospitals in the state, which have been equipped with different beds, ICUs and pediatric ICUs.
The process of allotment of doctors, nurses and other staff have also been started.
The medical colleges in Assam had facilities earlier also but these state-of-the-art pediatric ICUs were a need that we felt for a long time. These ICUs will help the child recover more quickly.It was mentioned that even though there will be unlocked in the state from September 1, yet there will be some restrictions in order to keep the number of cases under control. A new SOP will be published on September 1.
In regards to the establishment of the pediatric ICU, Fit Northeast spoke to Dr Niru Prabha Saharia, who is an Assistant Professor at the Pediatric Department of the Tezpur Medical College and Hospital. Dr Saharia said that since children are highly sensitive to any kind of ailment or illness, they need immediate medical attention.
