State Chief Minister Expresses Hope Over-Vaccination Drive

The scarcity of vaccines caused tension among the people who could not avail of it despite trials and errors. Clearing all those questions and doubts, Assam Chief Minister conveys a statement of relief.

The shortage of vaccine in Assam for the age group of 18-44 has raised a concern coupled with numerous questions targeting the duties of the Government in the distribution of vaccines.
To answer the question of the youth, who have been waiting to get vaccinated for a long, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the media yesterday.
The minister had to say that as the state is facing a shortage of vaccines for the age group of 18-44, the vaccination drive for the said age group shall undergo restriction for the next few days.
Sarma said that he even spoke to the manufacturers yesterday and assured them that the supply of vaccinations is to increase by 30 per cent by the month of June.
He highlighted that people could expect a smoother vaccination process by the second week of the subsequent month.
The plan is to get maximum people vaccinated within a short time as the state will soon get seven lakhs vaccination dose for the category of 18-44, which is 30 per cent more of what they got for the month of May.
The minister said that the manufacturing companies have not yet promised any date of vaccine delivery. However, the state has prepared plans to start vaccination effectively as soon as the vaccines arrive.

There will be a surplus of vaccination in August, and people can readily get vaccinated by just walking in the vaccination centres.
Moreover, during a visit to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, the minister expressed that the condition of the state will see improvement very soon.
Sarma inspected the Covid treatment and other related issues in the hospital.
