Sikkim orthopedic surgeon performs rare surgery

Sharma is the first surgeon from the tiny Himalayan state to successfully perform such complicated surgery

A Siliguri-based orthopedic surgeon has performed a rare and complicated surgery on a woman from Sikkim.
Dr. Bhushan Sharma, a surgeon at KINS Multi-Specialty Hospital at Siliguri in West Bengal, who hails from Sikkim, performed the surgery.
Sharma is the first surgeon from the tiny Himalayan state to successfully perform such complicated surgery.
A 65-year-old female patient was admitted to STNM hospital in Gangtok on February 7 with a severe hip fracture.
After thorough evaluation and checkups, she underwent complicated surgery "Uncemented Modular Arthroplasty" on February 10.
After several consultations with other doctors, she was referred to Dr. Bhushan Sharma at KINS Multi-Specialty Hospital for further treatment on February 9.

After thorough evaluation and checkups, she underwent complicated surgery "Uncemented Modular Arthroplasty" on February 10.
She started walking three days after surgery i.e. on February 13.
The woman was discharged from the hospital on February 15 which is an admirable and proud moment for all surgeons from Sikkim.
