Sikkim Health Minister Dr. M. K. Sharma has laid stress on the use of Y-Break Mobile Application. The Y-Break Mobile App consists of a yoga protocol with very few useful, yoga practices devised to de-stress, refresh, and re-focus at work to increase the productivity of individuals at workplaces.
Minister Dr. Sharma said that this mobile application was formally launched on September 1, 2021, in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi in the presence of five Central Ministers as part of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav".
According to a survey, changing lifestyle and spending long hours in front of computers are resulting in work-related stress among employees.
The Ministry of AYUSH had designed and developed five minutes duration Yoga protocol, named Y-Break, for the workplace by an expert committee in 2019. The module was initially launched in January 2020 on a pilot project basis in six major metro cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata) with the help of various stakeholders.
A total of 717 participants from different Private and Government bodies participated and the trial was a huge success.
The feedback had been highly encouraging, and consequent to this success, the Ministry of AYUSH developed an android based application Y-Break and the same was made available recently in Google Play Store for access by people.
The yoga protocol in the application comprises of a few simple yogic practices including Tadasana, Skandha Chakra, Ardha Chakrasana, Nadi Shodhana Pranayama, Bhramari Pranayama and Dhyana.A campaign was launched to spread awareness about access and usage of Y-Break protocol or app among the workforce for all sectors (Public/Private), and all Ministries/Departments of Government of India were requested to promote the usage of Y-Break protocol among the employees.

The yoga protocol in the application comprises of a few simple yogic practices including Tadasana, Skandha Chakra, Ardha Chakrasana, Nadi Shodhana Pranayama, Bhramari Pranayama and Dhyana.
Asanas help to open up the chest clarity, improve lungs capacity and increase cardiopulmonary function, which leads to maintaining physical activity for a longer duration. Nadi Shodhana Pranayama balances the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
Bhramari Pranayama facilitates the production and release of nitric oxide (NO) which helps to reduce stress and helps in regulating pressure, improving blood circulation and maintaining the supply of oxygen to the heart.
Dhyana helps maintain focus and concentration and also in reducing anxiety, tiredness and depression.
This Y Break (Yoga Break) Application is devised to de-stress, refresh and re-focus on work and to increase the productivity of individuals at workplaces.
The Health Minister appealed to all the employees and the public to install the Y-break app from the google play store and expressed hope that practical implementation of the Y-break App in the State will be of enormous help.
