Te State TB Cell, Sikkim (NTEP) organized a sensitization programme on Tuberculosis for the Elected Members of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly at Gangtok.
The programme was attended by state Chief Minister PS Tamang along with the Speaker from the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Deputy Speaker, Ministers and MLAs of the state.
The programme was also attended by the Political Secretary to HCM; Secretary to HCM; Director-General cum Secretary of the Health Department, the Deputy State TB Officer, the Assistant Programme Officer and a few other officials from the Health Department and IPR.
At the outset, Dr Ashok Rai, Additional Director cum State TB Officer (STO) welcomed all the guests.
Dr Rai in his presentation briefed about the importance of TB Elimination and the NTEP programme. He also talked about the vision of TB Free Sikkim and the importance of.
In his presentation, he highlighted the present scenario of Tuberculosis both at the National & State levels and the burden of TB disease in Sikkim.
On the day, Annual TB Bulletin 2021 was also launched officially from the hand of the Hon'ble Chief Minister. The Chief Minister congratulated the effort of the department and assured all the possible support to TB Elimination Program.He talked about the incentives for the TB patients under Treatment under the NTEP programme such as Nikshay Poshan Yojna, Patient Support System, Travel Support System, etc,
He also talked about the different initiatives started by the department to achieve the vision of TB Free Sikkim and other ongoing activities in the state like Active Case finding,
TB preventive Treatment, IEC programs, formation of the TB Forum at the community & district level and involvement of NGOs.
On the day, Annual TB Bulletin 2021 was also launched officially from the hand of the Hon'ble Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister congratulated the effort of the department and assured all the possible support to TB Elimination Program.
The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the State TB Officer.
