The SBI Life Insurance has recently joined hands with the Sishu Ashray Sthal, which is a centre for children suffering from cancer, under the agies of the Deepshikha foundation.
During a conversation with the honorary secretary of the Deepshikha foundation, Dr Mrinmoyee Baruah, Fit Northeast was informed that the Shishu Ashray Sthal was solely dedicated for the care of children suffering from cancer.

It was mentioned that when the children come to Guwahati for treatment, they either consult at the B.Borooah Cancer Institute or the State Cancer Institute under the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

It was highlighted that many times the patients generally choose to return back as they fall short of finance or their health of the child deteriorates and as the children's health worns out during the treatment, many of them even find it difficult to continue their education.
The Shishu Ashray Sthal which was started in the year 2018 and was constructed by the help of the Ministry of DoNER also has the facility of a smart classroom so that the students can continue with their education even during their process of treatment and their stay in this cancer care home.
It was mentioned that a children's park named Ratanlal Didwania Children's Park has been constructed adjacent to the Shishu Ashray Sthal for the recreation of the children.Image: representative image
It was mentioned that SBI Life has been constantly extending its financial assistance for every noble cause to this organization.
Deepshikha is an organization from Guwahati which is Started in the year 2004, the organization got officially registered in 2007. The Shishu Ashray Sthal was officially inaugurated by former Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal and was set up a plot of land gifted by Late Mr Keshab Sharma and his wife Mrs Binita Sharma.
