Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurates Gati Shakti Projects

Mobile Container Scanner set up at a cost of 30 crores to check radioactive material

The Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways (PSW) and AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated PM Gati Shakti projects worth 55 crores at Visakhapatnam port on Thursday. The projects will help smoothening the logistics for a swifter turnaround. It will also contribute to the welfare of the employees.
The Mobile Container Scanner was set up at the port to scan containers for any radioactive materials with an investment of 30 crores. The Sagarmala Convention Hall - built with an investment of 25 crores - was also inaugurated for the benefit & welfare of the employees of VPT. The Minister also visited the Port through a launch drive accompanied by senior officials of VPT where various initiatives and facilities of the port were explained. The VPT has also spent 4 crores to plant as many as 4.5 lakh trees during the current fiscal.
The Sagarmala Convention Hall - built with an investment of 25 crores - was also inaugurated for the benefit & welfare of the employees of VPT.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, "The visionary PM Gati Shakti initiative is a step towards unlocking value through smart integration & removing silos. The resultant system will link all the major organisations catering to railways, roadways, waterways. Such integration will give a major push to the growth of the economy & sustain the ecological needs for holistic & responsible development of our country."

The Union Minister also highlighted the Sagarmala projects as envisaged by the Prime Minister. He also said that most projects submitted by the Andhra Pradesh government have been put to effect. The government remains committed for any assistance towards the development of Andhra Pradesh, the Minister added.
The event was also attended by MVV Satyanarayan, MP, Visakhapatnam; Dr Satyavathi, MP, Ankapalli, G Madhavi, MP, Araku, J Subhadra, Chairperson, Zila Parishad, Visakhapatnam; PVN Madhav, MLC; V Kalyani, MLC; along with K Rama Mohana Rao, IAS, Chairman, Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT); and Durgesh Dubey, Deputy Chairman, IRTS, Deputy Chairman, VPT.
