Recovery rates of COVID patients in Assam hover around the 70% mark

This recovery rate is the fourth best in the country

Last week, Assam's COVID-19 recovery rate had zoomed past the 75%-mark and the total number of recoveries had surpassed the number of active cases by almost triple. However, during the last couple of days the recovery rate fell to 70%. According to Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma this recovery rate is still the fourth best in the country.

The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state of Assam was reported on 31st March. As of today the Government of Assam has confirmed a total of 58,837 positive cases including 42,325 recoveries, 16,500 plus active cases, 3 migrations and over 145 deaths in the state.

The state had started witnessing a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases with the return of the migrant workers and other natives of the state who had been residing in other parts of the country. Many of them had tested positive for coronavirus while they were being quarantined. Nearly 60, 000 tests are being conducted on a regular basis across the state and about a million tests have been conducted so far. According to official sources Assam's testing rate is the fifth best in the country.
