Amid the fear of Corona virus, another bacterial infection creates panic among the people

After doctors and medical staff being infected by scrub typhus at the DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization) Covid Hospital at Sarusajai, all the patients and staff have been evacuated yesterday and were shifted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
According to the authorities at the DRDO Covid hospital, the superintendent of the hospital, Dr Raj Pratim Das, 2 sisters and 2 other working staff showed the positive results to the 'Elisa' test. They complaint of symptoms like fever, headaches and small dark spots.
Senior medical authorities added that there is nothing to worry if one gets infected with scrub typhus as it is a complete curable infection caused by bacteria and can be treated by medicines like doxycycline.Authorities at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital added that as the cases of Covid are comparatively less, so it has been easy to accommodate the patients from the DRDO hospital.
Regarding this issue, the Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said, "The main aim behind emptying the DRDO Covid hospital was to provide relief to the Covid staff as the number of cases was less".
