New variant of Coronavirus- Omicron triggers panic

The World Health Organization has issued several warnings to the people regarding the new variant of Covid. Many states in South Africa have been affected by this new variant.
The new variant is known as Omicron(B.1.1.529). This variant is much more infectious than the other variants of Covid. The first known confirmed B.1.1.529 infection was from a specimen collected on November 9, 2021.
Along with South Africa, this variant has rapidly spread to Belgium, Hong Kong and Israel. Flight services from Britain to these countries have been banned. India too is keeping a strict eye on the people coming from South Africa and Hong Kong.

South African Health Minister Dr. Joe Phaahla said it is a very serious concern for all the people.
