The US-based technology company Novavax has tied up with Serum Institute of India to manufacture its Covid 19 vaccine named COVAVAX.
The CEO of Novavax, Stanley Erck, said that this vaccine has 90% efficacy and gives 100% protection against moderate to severe disease.
Trials have been completed on 29,960 voluntary participants over 119 sites in UK and Mexico.
The Covavax is scheduled to be launched in India by September 2021. The Government of India will be getting a total of 200 million doses from the Serum Institute of India.
The trials concluded that the new vaccine works equivalent and similarly effective as the other vaccines in the market. This vaccine has the power to fight against all the variants of Covid, including the Delta variant.
