New Cath Lab at Silchar Medical College Hospital

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 21, ceremonially inaugurated the new cath lab in Silchar Medical College and Hospital worth Rs 5.39 crore. It is the first-ever cath lab in Southern Assam.

Even though this institute have produced some of brilliant doctors, it was always been neglected by the government. A neurosurgeon has recently been engaged in the hospital. The hospital still do not have any dedicated department for cardiology, urology and nephrology.

The joining of the current principal of the medical college and hospital, Dr Babul Bezbaruah has given a new horizon to the hospital and the health care that it provides to its patients.

It was informed by Dr Bezbaruah that Dr Gopi, who is a senior cardiologist from Chennai will be visiting the cath lab along with his team of 10 specialists. However, in the initial phase, only a demo, angiofram and angioplasty would be done. The staff of the hospital will be trained for it too.
