NE exposition to focus on food tech, safety and hygiene

Food safety and hygiene have become more important for human health and wellbeing at a time when the world and the country have overcome three waves of the pandemic so far.

Here, food packaging plays a pivotal role in ensuring hygiene of packaged edible items and protection of consumers' health.

The third edition of North-East Foodtech-2022, a landmark trade exhibition for the food and hospitality industry in Northeast India, will showcase food packaging technologies that can keep food safe and hygienic.

The exposition, which will focus the state of Assam as a right destination for the investment in food processing and hospitality sector, will be held in Guwahati, the business capital in Northeast, from May 13 to 15.

The exhibition is being organised by Kolkata Foodtech in collaboration with the All Assam Restaurant Association and the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Assam at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre.

Announcing the trade exhibition, the organisers informed that around 90 reputed companies from all over India will take part in the three-day exhibition.

"About 90 reputed companies from all over India will display their products/services for three days in the vibrant platform. This exposition will focus the state of Assam as a right destination for the investment in food processing and hospitality sector. As we all are aware that COVID-19 has taught us how important food safety and hygiene are. Food packaging plays a pivotal role in the line of food hygiene. The 3rd North East Foodtech will bring a bunch of innovative ideas in the field of food preparation and packaging," Zakir Hossain, chief convener of North-East Foodtech, informed mediapersons on Tuesday.

A wide range of processed food and beverages, food packaging technology, bakery and confectionery equipment, hospitality industry products, food display system, sweet and snacks making technology, food additives and ingredients, food flavors and decorative products, etc, will be displayed in this huge platform.

Several thousand trade visitors from the Northeastern states and border countries are expected to visit the trade show for three days.

"Northeast region has enormous potential for the bakery and confectionery Industry. A new generation of home bakers is coming up in the market with mouth-watering products at a very competitive price. This exposition will provide them an end-to-end solution & groom them to become ideal entrepreneurs," Hossain said.
