Meghalaya to get connected to several places through air

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma flies to Delhi in the companionship of the advocate general

In a major boost to air connectivity in Meghalaya, Alliance Air is likely to start operations from Shillong Airport from October 18.
The airline is likely to connect to the three airports of the region. Presently Indigo and FlyBig are operating from this airport.
While Promoting Air connectivity in the state, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday travelled to Delhi in a Flybig aircraft from Umroi Airport. Accompanied by Advocate General of Meghalaya Amit Kumar, besides other officials, the Chief Minister travelled to Delhi by 2 pm flight.
There were a total of 27 passengers on board the flight.
On his social media page, CM announced his travel and said, "Happy to take my 1st flight through flying Airlines from the Umroi Airport to Delhi. "
While encouraging everyone to take this flight, CM said, "Flights from the Umroi Airport are operating regularly and the Team is working hard to ensure quality and uninterrupted service for all travellers travelling to and from the State."
"Thank the Director of Umroi Airport, the Fly Big team and the District Administration of Ri Bhoi for a warm reception and I hope they keep up their good work!," CM said.
Soon after the flight operations resumed in the state capital, in July this year, 122 flights operated from the airport carrying 1,341 passengers.
The flight operates every Friday and Monday.

Shillong Airport at Umroi has catered to more than 10,000 passengers in the last three months with over 400 flights being operated in and out of the airport.
Soon after the flight operations resumed in the state capital, in July this year, 122 flights operated from the airport carrying 1,341 passengers.
However, the number grew in August as 132 flights catered to as many as 3,621 passengers from this airport.
September witnessed a massive increase in-flight movement as in one month, 152 flights carrying 5,761 passengers operated from the airport.
However, on Thursday, this record was broken after 376 passengers flew in and out of the airport, which led to the largest single-day footfall. The airport followed all safety guidelines to fly in 193 passengers while 183 passengers departed for various destinations from the airport.
