Meghalaya gets Siver Innovations Award for Lakadong Turmeric

The other locally produced and exported products from this region included the sticky rice, honey and ginger

The 'Na Kper: Home Garden's Harvest' of Meghalaya won -the Silver Innovations Award for their Lakadong Turmeri.
Apart from that, Meghalaya business, 'Dalade,' made the top ten for their Ginger Infused Honey. SIAL India, one of the country's largest B2B food expos, opened on Thursday in New Delhi's Pragati Maidan.

It is for the second time when Meghalaya has joined SIAL India as a partner state in order to showcase 17 chosen products from the state.
As per the state Chief Minister, the emphasis items are prepared from produce that is mostly cultivated chemical-free, collected using traditional ways, followed by processing by utilising old knowledge with a bit of a twist (CMO).

The focus is entirely locally-produced products of Meghalaya which includes the Lakadong turmeric, ginger, sticky rice types, honey. But the companies selling innovative goods such as ginger-infused honey, wild orange pickle, turmeric chocolates, jackfruit in brine, and many more are attracting visitors to the Meghalaya Pavilion.

Meghalaya Chief Secretary Rebecca Suchiang, along with some other luminaries such as APEDA Chairman Dr M Angamuthu, Deputy High Commissioner Embassy of Canada and A Strohan, Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy M Radosztics, launched SIAL India on Thursday.
E Fajole, Trade Commissioner and Director of Business France for South Asia at the Paris Embassy, and Dr D. Vijay Kumar, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, were also present at the event.
