LGBRIMH, Tezpur is all set to establish Trauma Centre
It is an effort to deal with neurology, neurosurgery and orthopaedic treatment and help the patient
The Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health , Tezpur is all set to establish a trauma centre, which will cater to all kinds of emergencies and an effort is on to deal with neurology, neurosurgery and orthopaedic treatment. It can be mentioned that the construction work of the main gate to the trauma centre is under construction and has cost a total of Rs 1 crore. Introducing the trauma centre was a part of up-gradation of the institute.
Present at the function of the up-gradation of the mental health care institute said that parallel to research, this institute will now do more development-oriented works with regards to medical education.Addressing the present audience and media at the gathering, Dr Sailendra Kumar Deuri (Director, Lokopriyo Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health) said that in the present times, people have become very conscious about their mental health and do not hesitate to approach the doctor even at the slightest discomfort. But during the time of Covid, the number of cases of mental health has increased. Present at the function of the up-gradation of the mental health care institute said that parallel to research, this institute will now do more development-oriented works with regards to medical education.

In regards to the importance of a trauma centre at a mental health care institute, renowned psychiatrist from Assam, Dr Vishnupriya said, "A trauma centre plays a pivotal role at any mental health care institute as psychiatric emergencies are unique and only trained personnel can handle such emergencies. Moreover, many medical conditions can mimic like a psychiatric disorder, so immense training and good set up like a trauma centre is required to treat such overlapping conditions".
