Kids between 12 to 14 years eligible for Covid vaccination

The Union government has, after due deliberations with scientific bodies, decided to start COVID19 vaccination for 12 to 13 years and 13 to 14 years age groups from March 16, 2022.
The category eligible for vaccination will be those born in 2008, 2009 and 2010 or those who are already above 12 years of age.
The COVID 19 vaccine to be administered will be Corbevax, manufactured by Biological Evans, Hyderabad.
It may be noted that the population above 14 years of age is already being administered the COVID-19 vaccine under the ongoing COVID19 vaccination programme.
"The government has also decided that the condition of comorbidity for COVID19 Precaution Dose for the population over 60 years of age will be removed forthwith," an official statement on Monday said.
"Hence, from March 16, 2022, onwards, the entire population above 60 years of age will be eligible for Precaution Dose of COVID19 vaccine," it said.
The department had launched the vaccination drive for adolescents between 15 and 18 years of age, on January 3, 2022.
Assam, it may be mentioned, the Assam health department has so far vaccinated a population of 4.36 crore, with 2, 74,662 people inoculated with the COVID-19 Precaution Dose till March 13, 2021.

The department had launched the vaccination drive for adolescents between 15 and 18 years of age, on January 3, 2022. This category of the population has been administered the Covaxin has an interval of 28 days between the two doses to complete the primary vaccination schedule.
Hence, all adolescents in the age group who received the first dose on January 3, 2022, became eligible for the second dose from January 31, 2022.
It may be mentioned that the state has been recording zero to one or two daily cases in the past few days as the COVID situation has improved considerably.
