Inter-district Travel to be Allowed Once a Week by Govt. of Assam

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that inter-district travel might be relaxed for a day in a week

"It might not be possible to completely lift the ban on Inter-District Movement ahead of 15 August. However, inter-district travel might be relaxed for a day in a week," said Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister, Assam.
Therefore, it is expected that travellers can travel across the districts in a particular day in every week, for the time being.

The Chief Minister said that it is not possible to give complete relaxation on inter-district movement in the State, especially ahead of the Independence Day.

Inter-district movement in Assam has remained suspended since mid-May of 2021 due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the State during the second wave of pandemic. However, with improvement in the COVID-19 situation in the State, the Assam Government is mulling to relax ban on inter-district movement partially.
