As per data by the Union Health and Family Welfare Department, India today, the last 24 hours records a total of 2 crores 97 lakh 3 hundred 13 Covid-19 cases. The number of recovered persons is 2 crores 84 lakh 91 thousand 6 hundred 70. The death toll has risen to 2 lakh 81 thousand 903.
There has been a significant decline in active cases, but new cases of the infectious virus are still reported on a daily basis.
In Assam, 67,208 new cases have been registered in the last 24 hours. The state witnessed 36 deaths yesterday, with the recovery rate at 90.70%.

Meanwhile, the third phase of vaccination continues in Darrang District, the Joint Director of Health Services, Dr Ruplal Nunisa informs that under the Assam Community Screening Programme, the ASHA workers coupled with a team of doctors have visited many villages to collect samples, vaccinate and create awareness among the people. To date, 486 settlements, including a total of 5,40,443 people, have completed their Covid screenings.

On the other hand, MLA Gaurav Gogoi today visited the Shahid Bhogeswari Civil Hospital in Nagaon, where he distributed oximeters, thermometers, PPE Kits, oxygen concentrators, and masks in association with Farm to Food Foundation and Gunjan. Gogoi even had a discussion with the Joint Director of Nagaon regarding the Covid situation in the district.
In order to lessen the sufferings of the people due to lack of oxygen, the WISH Foundation, yesterday, donated 95 oxygen concentrators to the State Health Mission in the presence of the health minister of the state, Keshab Mahanta, who thanked the foundation for the great help.
