Importance of sunlight in boosting health and immunity

It is the reason why our universe functions effectively and efficiently and the reason why we are sustainably living our day to day life on this planet

Sunlight is a blessing that God has bestowed upon us human beings so that we can differentiate day from night. On the flip side, harmful UV Rays can cause sunburns and cancerous diseases too.
Nevertheless despite its cons, sunlight has multiple beneficial outcomes. The most common and important boon of sunlight is heat and through it our laundry gets dried. Sunlight is a natural cloth drier and it destroys any bacteria and virus that clings on to our clothing and skin. Also, sunlight is the reason why our universe functions effectively and efficiently and the reason why we are sustainably living our day to day life on this planet.
Energies are harvested everyday through sunlight which brightens our planet. It also helps in preserving foods for a longer period of time such as dried meat, fruits, vegetables, nuts etc.
The most crucial and important thing that our body obtains from the sun are nutrients. Nutrients are important as it boosts our immunity, blood cells and bones. Sunlight also facilitates the absorption of certain vital vitamins and minerals that assist the effective processing of calcium, which is a key factor for healthy bones.
During the ongoing pandemic, sunlight is indeed playing a major role in boosting our immune system. COVID -19 is a viral disease which when exposed to heat degrades and vanishes over a certain period of time. The Vitamin D that we absorb from sunlight is an integral part of our immune mechanism.
Sunlight also serves as a mood alleviator because our brain releases a hormone called serotonin when we expose ourselves to sunlight. Serotonin is called the happy chemical as it contributes to mental wellbeing and a happy cheerful mood.
Besides the aforementioned benefits of sunlight, it also makes our bodies sleep faster and better by releasing a hormone called melatonin (when exposed to the dark).
Needless to say we have a lot to thank the sun for. Moreover we must appreciate the little things that nature provides us and try to utilize these blessings responsibly.
Environment preservation and ecological balance are not just buzzwords or fads. They are real human challenges today for if our collective human greed is not curbed the Ozone Layer will be irretrievably depleted and spell doom for all of us.
