While interacting with Fit Northeast, Mr Debashish Dutta from the Advanced Heart Care Centre (under Guwahati Metro Hospital) said that this Advanced Heart Care Centre is a unit of Guwahati Metro Hospital from where all the health camps are conducted. The camps are mostly set up in the schools and colleges at various districts to make people aware of their heart health.
In this health camp, the para-medics assisted the doctors with the initial tests like the blood sugar evaluation, blood pressure evaluation followed by an ECG (to those patients who were advised so).
Present at the health camp, Dr Chandra Kumar Das spoke to Fit Northeast and said  that heart disease always has many underlying causes like diabetes, high blood pressure, hypertension etc. If such factors (or causes) are detected at the right time, then the risk factors can be minimized and the heart can be saved from the harmful effects of these diseases.
Dr Das added that in the Northeastern states the awareness about heart disease is very low among the people in the Northeastern region and many people think that it is only during a chest pain that a doctor should be approached. It was added that the person who is obese, follows a sedentary lifestyle, has diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure etc should always be in touch with a doctor to avoid any kind of health emergency.

Speaking to Fit Northeast, Dr M Ahmed said that people should start focusing more on their food habits. One of the biggest mistake that many of us do in our daily food habits are the consumption of broiler chicken which is extremely harmful for health as the chicks are treated with hormones. These hormones enter the human body through the consumption of chicken and cause harm to our body leading to a rise in blood pressure, and affecting the heart in the long run.
She also added that a healthy lifestyle is very important to keep the heart-healthy. A healthy lifestyle requires a balanced diet, minimum junk food, regular exercise, good sleep and minimum stress and anger.
