The Health and Family Welfare Ministry airs a virtual speech by Director and Senior Professor of Psychiatry, Dr Pratima Murthy from NIMHANS, who answers the queries on the "Importance of Psychosocial Wellbeing during Covid-19".
Initiating her speech, Dr Murthy said that even though there was no Covid, people were still anxious of going to the hospitals. But that anxiousness increased during Covid. She said that people should restrict from going to the hospitals unless it is a case of extreme emergency.
Dr Murthy mentioned that the introduction of online consultation portals like E-Sanjeevani and several other doctors have been a boon to especially the elderly people who cannot move out of their homes during Covid times.

The best part was that the senior people could get the consultation from the comfort of their homes. She said these online portals have also made appointments easy to a large extent.
Dr Murthy added that while the patients visited the hospitals for or during Covid, many of them actually neglected some other health issues they had including their mental health. It was emphasized that any kind of mental anxiety or stress should not be ignored and the patient should visit the hospital if extremely necessary.
It was said that getting admitted to the hospital sometimes help in reducing anxiety. Dr Murthy concluded that it is always good to get informed in earlier than becoming panic about a certain situation or condition.
