Guwahati-based premier health care institute Nemcare hospital in association with Anazori organized a bicycle rally in the city. The rally was organized on the occasion of World Stroke Day with the aim to create awareness of stroke signs.
The rally was flagged off by senior journalist Pranay Bordoloi and Dr Hitesh Barua, the managing director of the Nemcare hospital. Journalist Bordoloi said that stroke is the second most common cause of fatalities in the world.
He applauded the initiative taken by Nemcare hospital and said that it is high time people should start thinking of heath health in a positive way.
Dr Barua said that stroke is something that can be prevented. "The only thing which we have to do is to take proper care of our health and do a lot of exercises to keep ourselves fit," he said.
Dr Barua added that cycling is the best and easiest exercise one can do.
Bora added that nobody had a bad brain but it is the other negative conditions of the body which makes the situation even more complicated and worse.Speaking to Fit Northeast, Dr. Angshuman Bora from the Neurosurgery department of the hospital said, "Today is the World stroke day. These days it is seen that 1 in 4 people suffer from brain stroke."
He urged people to take care of themselves and treat themselves at the right time. "More attention should be paid in case people with health conditions like obesity, diabetes, hypertension," Bora said.
Bora added that nobody had a bad brain but it is the other negative conditions of the body that make the situation even more complicated and worse.
"Cycle rally is becoming very popular. Cycling is not only about a habit but its also cardio and involves the muscles from head to toe. Any kind of physical activity helps in releasing serotonin hormones which makes us feel good" said Dr Debsharma, a senior citizen who was one of the participants in the rally.
The rally started from Nemcare hospital around 6 AM where 50 cyclists participated and covered an area of 10 kilometers in the city.
