Government creates milestone by launching the X-ray Setu app
To benefit the rural masses, the Government finally launches an app to provide medical relief.
Nearly 65% of the Indian population resides in the rural area. In the villages, there is hardly one radiologist against a million Indians. Healthcare in rural areas is not up to the mark. People are often deprived of basic medical facilities. The reports of the RT-PCR tests even get delayed.
In such a situation, X-Rays are a reliable way to detect the infection in the lungs and start immediate treatment.
Keeping such factors in mind, the Government has launched the X-Ray Setu app on WhatsApp.
Artificial Intelligence(AI)researchers from ART PARK, NIRAMAI Health and India Institute of Science at Bengaluru has developed the app. This app uses artificial intelligence, which quickly interprets the image of the X-Ray through WhatsApp.
Artificial Intelligence(AI) researchers from ART PARK, NIRAMAI Health and India Institute of Science at Bengaluru has developed the app. This app uses artificial intelligence that quickly interprets the image of the X-Ray through WhatsApp.

There are two ways to avail of the AI app facility. The user can either download the app by clicking on www.xraysetu.com or send the picture of the X-Ray on WhatsApp number - 8046163838.
Once the image is sent in this number, it automatically analyses the X-Ray picture to generate a provisionary report within minutes. Then a detailed record marking the infection in the lungs is received. The doctors then get the reports on WhatsApp.
This app has been used and trusted by more than 300 doctors over the past ten months. It works both with analogue and digital X-Ray machines. It even responds to the low-resolution image. It can mark 15 kinds of different abnormality in the lungs, including the one of Covid-19.
