In the current time, due to stress and many other issues, people are going through much psychiatric illness. Along with it, people might even have to go through issues like stroke, heart attack and any kind of brain injury.
With an aim to improve brain stimulation among the people going through such issues, Google has collaborated with researchers to develop new artificial intelligence algorithms.
Google has tied up with researchers at the Mayo Clinic to develop a set of paradigms that will simplify the comparison between the effects of the electrical stimulation (or impulses) in the brain.
The interaction of the electrode resulted in hundreds to thousands of time points to be studied using the new algorithm.A neurosurgeon at the Mayo Clinic Kai Miller had to say that the new algorithm may be helpful in understanding which brain region directly interacts with one another, which in turn will be helpful in the placement of the electrodes for stimulating devices to treat major brain diseases.
It was stated that such technology will be very helpful in treating patients with epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, obsessive-compulsive disorders and depression.
This new technology was demonstrated for an array of implanted brain surface electrodes in human patients. A patient with a brain tumour underwent placement of an electrocorticographic electrode array to locate seizures and map brain function before a tumour was removed.
The interaction of the electrode resulted in hundreds to thousands of time points to be studied using the new algorithm. As the researcher explained in the study of PLOS Computational Biology, the framework of the new algorithm enables straight interpretation of single-pulse brain-stimulating data and could be applied generically to explore the diverse milieu of interactions that comprise the connectome. Connectome is the complete description of the the physical wiring of an organism's nervous system.
