"Eat right campus" awareness held in Dimapur

A news by our Nagaland correspondent Jamang regarding an awareness camp held in Dimapur

Through an initiative of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Food Safety Dimapur zone organised an awareness programme on "eat right campus" at Holy Cross Higher Secondary School (HCHSS) in Dimapur.
Samuel Zehol, resource person, Food Safety Dimapur, designated officer and licensing authority during the programme spoke on the topic "food safety and eat right India movement " an initiative of FSSAI". Zehol while addressing the students of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School said preserving health and destroying it was in one's hands and encouraged the students to eat health.
Zehol stated, "If you need to get something in life, you need to have a perfect focus on it and by this fact, health is the only thing that can have both a boon or an adverse effect on you"

Zehol also encouraged the students to be cautious of what they eat and to check the labels, nutritional facts and "best before" section.

Imsutola Jamir, dietician from CIHSR in her presentation spoke on the topic "eat safe and healthy". She said a balanced diet was one which provided all the nutrients in required amounts and proper proportions. She also informed the students that this could be easily achieved through a blend of the four basic food groups.
Imsutola also said that the quantities of foods required to meet nutrient requirements vary with age, gender, physiological status and physical activity. Further, she pointed out that a balanced diet provided all the nutrients a person required, without going over the recommended daily calorie intake. The programme was chaired by HCHSS principal Rev Fr. Philip Yanpvuthung. Later, the programme was followed by a discussion hour.
