Tumour successfully removed from the backside of the brain of an eleven-year-old boy from Morigaon

The first critical surgery at Cardiothoracic and Neuroscience Centre (CNC) under Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was successfully performed on Tuesday.
"A tumour was successfully removed from the backside of the brain of an eleven-year-old boy from Morigaon," informed Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta after taking stock of the patient's health's status at CNC. The Health Minister also congratulated the doctors and staff on the first critical surgery at CNC.
During his visit to the CNC, Mahanta also had a meeting on various aspects in managing the CNC with GMCH principal, AO CNC, heads of departments of microbiology and cardiology at GMCH, cardiology, cardiothoracic, neurology and neurosurgery departments, professors and doctors at CNC. "A total of 4,391 patients in the OPD and 55 patients in the IPD of this superspeciality hospital have received medical services so far," Mahanta informed.
The health minister also chaired a meeting to review the overall status of the newly built seven cancer hospitals that were inaugurated by the Prime Minister on April 28.

"We also took stock of the progress of the cancer hospitals which are under construction. In addition, we deliberated on starting the construction of cancer hospitals at the seven sites, the foundation stones for which were laid virtually by the Prime Minister," Mahanta informed.
The Cardiothoracic and Neuroscience Centre under the aegis of GMCH opened last month.
The facility is the first of its kind in the Northeast and will cater to patients with heart and nerve diseases, besides fulfilling a need of many critical cardiac and neuro patients who have to go outside the state and region for treatment.
