In the context of the per million calculation the state has managed nearly 40,000 tests

COVID-19 testing in Assam has crossed the one million milestone early this month. Nearly 60,000 tests are now being conducted everyday and the state aims to increase the number to one lakh. In terms of testing, the state occupies the fifth position in India. Interestingly despite increased testing the positivity rates had started declining last week with the average hovering at 5%.
The introduction of the Rapid Antigen Test has significantly helped in conducting a greater volume of tests. While the RT-PCR testing takes about 7 days for results the RAT method ensures that the virus is detected within a day.
