Vaccinated candidates will now be able to receive their certificates post-vaccination through WhatsApp. This new facility has been enabled by the MyGov Corona Helpdesk which is managed by the Central Government.
It is very simple to apply for the vaccination certificate through WhatsApp. The only thing the candidate has to do is to save the number 91-9013151515. Then open WhatsApp and type "download certificate" and send.
A six-digit OTP (One Time Password) will be generated through a normal message and then that OTP has to be entered in the message box in the WhatsApp conversation. Then the ID is asked to be confirmed.
It is very simple to apply for the vaccination certificate through WhatsApp. The only thing the candidate has to do is to save the number 91-9013151515. Then open WhatsApp and type "download certificate" and send.In case if the recipient is the self (or the one operating the WhatsApp), it is advised to type 1 and reply back. The Covid-19 vaccination certificate will appear on the WhatsApp chat window.
Fit Northeast spoke to two ladies who work at the registration counters of Covid vaccination centre. They shared their views on this initiative. They said that most of the people who come for vaccination have android mobiles with WhatsApp and are well-acquainted with technology.
They said that in some cases, people come from the backward sections of the society and do not have facilities like mobile phones or WhatsApp. At times it becomes difficult to deal with those people as they keep on asking their queries regarding how they can receive their vaccination certificate. Therefore, people who do not have android phones or WhatsApp have to fetch their certificates from some other sources like internet café.
It was in the month of June last year that the Government of India made it mandatory to use the Arogya Setu App in order to tract Covid-19. Then with the start of the vaccination process, the CoWIN application was launched, which could be downloaded in mobile phones, laptops or computers. Studies showed that after the launch of the CoWIN app, people mostly prefer it over Arogya Setu app for registration of vaccination.
