COVID 19 claims 145 lives in Assam so far

Although the mortality rate of the state is among the lowest in the country the people of the state have been ruffled by the deaths

COVID-19 has claimed 141 lives in Assam so far. Assam has witnessed a total number of 58,837 confirmed cases, out of which 42,325 have been discharged and about 16,500 are active cases.
The recent deaths have mostly occurred in the Kamrup, Karimganj and Dibrugarh district. Although the mortality rate of the state is lowest in the country the people of the state have been ruffled by the deaths.
Fit NorthEast speaks to some people. "It is very tragic to see more than 145 people dying in Assam now. This is very serious. People should take more precautions", says Meena Das.

"When the entire country was being swept over by the novel coronavirus wave there were zero cases in Assam. Within a short span of time the numbers have spiraled up and mortalities have occurred. People should be more skeptical about this deadly disease and take necessary precautions", says Alok Basumatari.

While the death toll is rising, the state health minister Himanta Biswa Sharma is trying his best to keep everyone positive and motivated. He also encouraged the doctors, "So gratifying to see so many patients recovering and returning to their families! Wonderful work by doctors indeed," reads a recent tweet of his.
