Union minister of state for health and family welfare, Bharti Pravin Pawar has directed construction firm, HLL Infra Tech Services (HITES), to complete the remaining work, including the laboratories and OPD of the under-construction AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), Guwahati by mid-April 15, 2022.
The direction came after Pawar along with Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta visited the construction site at Changsari, on the outskirts of Guwahati, to oversee the progress of work on Friday.
It may be mentioned that the session for the second batch of the medical institution will start from March-end this year. Classes of the first batch of AIIMS-Guwahati are underway at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
During the inspection, the Union minister took stock of the construction work of all the departments on campus, including the medical college, nursing home, classrooms, administrative building, student hostels and the AYUSH blockThe Union minister reviewed various aspects of the construction work in a meeting with the senior health officials, comprising the director of AIIMS Guwahati; managing director of National Health Mission Assam; director of medical education, heads of three departments of AIIMS Guwahati, as well as the additional deputy commissioner (revenue) and project supervisor of HITES.
During the inspection, the Union minister took stock of the construction work of all the departments on campus, including the medical college, nursing home, classrooms, administrative building, student hostels and the AYUSH block.
At the review meeting, the representative of HITES informed the Union minister that 95 per cent of the work of AIIMS-Guwahati has been completed.
