Centre expresses concern about raising Covid Cases in Mizoram

In the Northeast, Mizoram records the highest number of Covid cases, Kerala first in the list at the National level

Even though the nation is witnessing a decreased number of Covid-19 cases, but there is still a concern regarding some of the states of India. Even though the efforts of the Government regarding vaccination, some of the states like Mizoram in the Northeast and Kerala are witnessing a constant rise in the number of cases.
The positivity rate in Mizoram has reached more than 10%, mostly affecting children and teenagers. Recent data says that it is currently the state which has the 4th highest number of Covid cases followed by Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
As counted on October 2, the total number of cases in Mizoram was 16,361, which contributed to 6% of India's total caseload. The highest positivity rate is recorded from Champhai district in Mizoram with 27.6%. Over 49% of Covid-19 samples sequenced from Mizoram have the Delta variant which can be now believed to be the key driver for the latest surge in the Covid cases in the state.

Speaking about its vaccination details, Mizoram has covered 80% of its adult population with the first dose, and 51% with both doses.

It was during a meeting with a state delegation on Thursday last that the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan gave the assurance that an expert team will be sent to Manipur from the Centre to analyze and find a solution for the Covid concerns in the state.
It should be taken to account that a team comprising of a representative from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from the National Centre for Disease Control visited the state in September.
Apart from Mizoram, Kerala has the highest positivity rate in the entire nation. In the last 14 days, it has constantly been recording over 100 cases per day. In the present day, Kerala has 1.4 lakh cases which is also a huge concern for the centre.
