Assam to resume physical classes in educational institutes from Oct 19
The Assam Government is planning to lift all the bans from November 1; urges people to get vaccinated soon
Assam government on Tuesday announced that physical classes in all the educational institutions of the state will start from October 19, 2021.
The Assam education department issued on Tuesday said that physical classes for 9, all undergraduate and postgraduate in educational institutions in the state will resume from October 1, 2019.
The department has also issued a fresh set of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)s.
Students can also prefer to take the online method of education if they do not wish to attend physical classes. The SOP is applicable for both Government and non-Government educational institutes.Whereas the physical classes for class 9 are to begin from October 1. The other classes like 10, 12 and that of the college and the universities shall carry their classes as they were doing.

The decision of reopening the educational institutions for all has been taken after the positivity rate of Covid-19 has remained less than 1% since the last 15 days. The department makes a humble request to the institutes to keep following the entire Covid protocols for everyone's safety.

While attending an event on the occasion of World Tourism Day in Guwahati on September 27, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the Assam Government was working towards lifting all the bans and Covid restrictions from November 1.
He said that the vaccination drive in the state is going on at a very good pace. The minister even urged the people to take their remaining jabs at the mega vaccination drive on October 2.
