The Assam State Disaster Management Authority issued a new SOP which will come into force from August 18, 2021.
As per the new SOP, the new timings of the night curfew will be from 7 PM to 5 AM. All the offices (workplaces), business/commercial establishments, dining services in restaurants/dhabas, eateries, sale counters shall remain open till 6 PM. Inter-district movement of private vehicles and movement of people shall be allowed except to and from Kamrup (Metro) District. Inter-district public transport however shall remain suspended.
Physical classes of the final year of graduate/post-graduate Engineering/Medical Colleges, GNM, Nursing courses and that of Aeronautical Engineering College may be allowed to be started with fully vaccinated students. Meetings and gatherings at any open or closed spaces is allowed up to 200 persons in open space and up to 50% of the hall capacity or 200 fully vaccinated persons whichever is lower in a closed venue. Functions related to National/International days, the ceiling will be up to 50% capacity of the hall. 25 people are allowed to participate in funerals and marriages. Cinema halls/ theatre hall to remain closed. Strong action will be taken by the Excise Department against those indulging in illegal production and sale of country liquor in all the districts.
Other restrictions including the declaration of containment zones etc and exemptions as notified in the order of August 9, 2021, shall continue to remain in force except those specifically notified by this order.

On August 16, Kamrup Metro recorded 163 fresh Covid-19 cases along with Barpeta with 49, Lakhimpur with 49 cases and Nalbari with 45 cases.
A total number of 1,10,581 cases were conducted across Assam yesterday and the positivity rate reached 0.69%.
Meanwhile, the people are strictly advised to follow the Covid protocols which include wearing of face masks, constant sanitization of hands and maintain social distance.
