Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma along with the state health minister Keshab Mahanta ceremonially launched the Covid-19 vaccination camp for the children from the age group of 12-14 at the Rukminigaon Balika Vidyalaya High School today morning.
Addressing the crowd, Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma first thanked the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi for his dedicated guidance through the hard phase of the Covid-19 period. He then saluted the role played by the PM in making the vaccinations available to everyone in the country. Giving the detail of the vaccinated population of Assam,
Sarma highlighted that almost 2 crore people in the state have taken their 2nd dose vaccination and a total of 4 crore have completed their vaccination. It was mentioned that the third wave of the Omicron which also arrived in Assam could not severely attack anyone as most of the people were double vaccinated. Sarma said that even though life is gradually coming back to normal, taking the Covid vaccine is a must for all. it was mentioned that children have better immunity to fight against diseases but it is a relief for us that there is Covid vaccination for children as well, which will give them better protection.
Giving the detail of the vaccinated population of Assam, Sarma highlighted that almost 2 crore people in the state have taken their 2nd dose vaccination and a total of 4 crore have completed their vaccinationIt was added that the students of classes 9, 10, 11 and 12 were successfully vaccinated and now they are appearing in their final board exams. This time the Corbevax will be given to the children from the age groups of 12-14. "We should unitedly take the vaccine and stay protected", Dr Sarma.
The State Health Dept has instructed to the schools to prepare the mid-day meal early and only after the mid-day meal, the program of vaccination will start. In order to encourage the other children to take their vaccine, the daughter of Keshab Mahanta also took her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine along with the other children.
Inaugurating the vaccination drive, the state health minister, Keshab Mahanta thanked the chief minister of the state for his sincere guidance. He mentioned that the vaccination drive in Assam have completed 1 successful year under which the vaccination has been given in various stages to the people of different age groups. He mentioned that the children who were born after March 2010 are eligible to take the vaccine in this turn. It was mentioned that this time gap between both doses of the Corbevax vaccine is 28 days.
Along with the ministers, the Director of Health Services Family Welfare, Sri Munindra Nath Ngate and the other members of the National Health Mission were also present at the spot. In this launch, it was mentioned that the vaccination for people above 60 years of age will be restarted from today itself.
