Assam scientist helps in developing anti -Covid drug 2-DG

DRDO coming up with the Anti-Covid Drug 2-DG is itself a blessing for humanity. This story will introduce our readers to a face from Northeast who was a part of such an invention

Amid all the negative news regarding the death and illness of Covid, there is something that we can feel good and positive about.
Assam's daughter, Dr Jubilee Purkayastha who is a resident of Karimganj district has brought pride to her motherland. Dr Purkayastha, who now works as a scientist at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences, Defence Research and Development Organization, Delhi was a part of the team involved in the process of developing the anti-Covid Drug 2-DG.
Jubilee did her PhD from North East Institute of Science and Technology in Jorhat and joined the Defense Research Laboratory of DRDO in Tezpur in 2008.
She was congratulated by the people of her native place as well as Patharkandi legislator Krishnendu Paul for her activities which aimed for the benefit of the masses.
During a media interaction, she said, "I am blessed to be a part of such a domain which is working for the service of the nation. I love my mother and she is my inspiration. I feel I have a lot to do for my country. Amidst such a crisis, I would urge people to strictly maintain the Covid appropriate behaviour. We hope to get back to normalcy soon".

Meanwhile, her involvement in such a prestigious leap has given a big reason to the people of Barak Valley to rejoice.
